Picture shot on the 1st session of MBA19 Organizational Management and Control

After one month torturing of  pre-course case work for the course Organization Management and Control, MBA19 students can’t wait to bite the evil initiator – Professor Hanno Roberts. Anyway, the  first morning  was not bloody but inspiring and full of joy and laughing.

Professor Hanno has the magic power to get attraction and activate his audience. Firstly he reviewed key models students learned from last module Corporate Strategy and Global Business Policy taught by Prof. Torger Reve, and explained the logic  between  the two modules, and then went to the warm-up animal game.

Animal Game

Students were divided into 8 groups, and each group was given a roll of kitchen foil as resources.

Round 1: Innovation and Creation

Each group was given 5 minutes to make an animal with Kitchen foil. After that, each group was given 1 minute to present their product. And all the students voted for the best animal.

Finally, Group Snake with the selling  point  “buying one swan with free nest and eggs” won the most votes.

Round 2: Production and Efficiency

Each group sent a representative to the winner group in round 1 and learned how to make the swan family, then went back their teams to teach others.

Each group was given 5 minutes to make as many qualified swans plus nests and eggs  as they can. The winner went to the most productive group.

Group Sunday won in this round with 13 products.

What was learned from the game?

With the guiding of Hanno, groups shared various experience and insights.

Round 1: ideas, discussion, design, prototyping, show

Round 2: resource allocation, production design, people organization, line organization, job rotation.

The small game mirrors organization management and describes internal structure of an organization.  With this funny game, MBA19 started the 4-days journey with Captain Hanno Roberts.
