Students from the BI-Fudan MBA Programme once again participated in the yearly Jing'an International Indoor Rowing Challenge which took place in the Jing'an Gymnasium on Nov. 25. Two teams from Class 17 and Class 18, consisting of 20 students all together participated, thereby continuing the tradition from the last couple of years.
The teams arrived early to practice both the rowing and the switching between each rower, with the latter actually being the biggest challenge. A lot of funny situations occurred when 10 people was supposed to switch places and tasks within a few seconds. In the Rowathon-class, it is 20 minutes of intense rowing and the team who rows the longest distance wins.
The event director, Nicholas Herbert, is also alumni of BI-Fudan MBA Class 12 and was very excited about the amount of people attending the event. "When I started the event by myself a few years ago there were not a lot of people participating, but it has grown bigger every year with this year as a definite highlight. The government is even helping me arrange things now. The first year I did practically everything by myself. This year I do next to nothing"
The BI-Fudan MBA teams competed with other teams throughout the competition. It was a very close race but Class 17 finally came out ahead. Unfortunately the competition was too tough to get a top placement with professional competitors. All the students had a really good time, and although we did not get any silverware we look forward to next year’s competition.
