Three Norwegian films in competition at Rouen(France)

Three Norwegian features are among the eight selections for competition at the Nordic Film Festival in Rouen, including Sara Johnsen’s Upperdog, P?l Jackman’s The Storm in My Heart (Jernanger) and Rune Denstad Langlo’s North (Nord).

Unspooling at Rouen’s Gaumont and Melville theatres, and for the 23rd year organised by festival founders Isabelle Duault and Jean-Michel Mongrédien, the showcase between 10-21 March presents more than 100 films from the Nordic countries, the Benelux and the Baltic States.

A festival sidebar, Norway – Unlikely Places to Live, unspools six films of Norwegian nature by Oddgeir Bruaset. Panorama: News from the North contains Erik Poppe’s Troubled Water (De usynlige), which has recently been released in France.

Norway is also represented in the War and Resistance programme, by Eilert Munch Lund’s The War Sailors (Krigsseilerne), Vibeke L?kkeberg’s Betrayal (L?perjenten), Hans Petter Moland’s The Last Lieutenant (Secondl?itnanten) and Jean Dréville-Titus Vibe Müller’s Operation Swallow: The Battle for Heavy Water (Kampen om tungtvannet).

Last year Norwegian cinema scooped two top prizes in Rouen: the Jury Grand Prix (for Eva S?rhaug’s Cold Lunch/L?nsj) and The Audience Award (Nils Gaup’s The Kautokeino Rebellion/Kautokeino-oppr?ret).
