With the rapid development of online two-sided marketplaces, the risk of disintermediation—where sellers and buyers circumvent the platform to transact directly—has increased, leading to significant revenue loss for online platforms. However, it remains unclear how platform characteristics influence a platform’s vulnerability to disintermediation. This research empirically examines the factors driving platform disintermediation, including the role of communication technologies, and their impact on user disintermediation tendencies and market outcomes. The findings aim to provide insights into platform design and governance strategies to mitigate disintermediation risks.

主讲人简介:

美国南加州大学马歇尔商学院助理教授，获哈佛大学技术与运营管理博士学位，清华大学管理科学硕士学位，复旦大学信息管理与信息系统学士学位。研究方向为信息技术创新与数字化平台治理。多篇论文发表于《管理科学》(Management Science) 等顶级期刊及《哈佛商业评论》(Harvard Business Review) 等刊物。其论文荣获“《管理科学》杂志最佳信息系统论文”奖。其学术成果多次荣获国际会议最佳论文奖并荣获多项学术基金。
