主 题:The Effects of Seeker-Generated Information on the Participation of Solvers in Open Innovation Contests: A Temporal Study
主讲人:张妮拉 讲师
摘 要:
The open innovation contest is widely adopted as an innovation search option for firms seeking to save on costs and create innovation variety. Securing enough solvers would be a necessary condition for the success of a contest. The seeker-generated information (SGI) in contests could help seekers attract more solvers in a contest. However, an effective way to generate information is unclear (what contents to be included and when to be posted). This research attempts to address this question by examining the temporal effects of heterogeneous SGI on incremental solvers. We obtained a dataset that included rich information, such as contest descriptions, solution reviews, requirement updates, and solution ratings. By leveraging different text analysis techniques, we capture content in different SGI regarding sentiments, tones, and features. Through contest-day level analyses, we examined how potential solvers would respond to different contents in the SGI. We identify that the impact of information on the number of solvers varies during a contest period. This study fills the research gap by investigating the effects of different contents of SGI and the associated temporal effects. The findings provide insights into how to frame information and when the information is more effective.
