Briefing: William D. Bradford is Professor of Finance and Business Economics at the Foster School of Business, University of Washington.　 From 1994 to 1999, he was Dean of the Foster Business School and holder of the Kirby Cramer Chair at the University of Washington, and was subsequently awarded the Endowed Professorship in Business and Economic Development upon his joining the Department of Finance and Business Economics.　

He received a B.A. in Economics from Howard University, an MBA in finance and a Ph.D. in Finance and Economics from Ohio State University.　 He has served as Assistant and Associate Professor of Finance at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. He was also Professor of Finance at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he also served as Chair of the Finance Department and then Associate Dean and Acting Dean at the Smith School of Business.　 In addition to the schools above, he has taught at Ohio State, New York University, UCLA and Yale University.　 He has recently served as Special Term Professor and Professorial Lecturer at Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance and Antai Business School,　　respectively.　

He is a member of the Board of Directors of Commerce Bank in Seattle, Washington.　 His research interests include small business development, venture capital, entrepreneurship, business finance and Chinese corporate finance issues.　 He has authored or co-authored three books and more than 50 articles on finance during his career.
