文章摘要:I will present some preliminary results from two related studies: the first study aims to explore the possible games of examining undetectable dishonesty in the lab that also allows for cross-culture comparisons. People are lying averse (averse to lying), perhaps to keep a good self-image. I look for an answer to two important questions. First, how does the level of lying aversion change when people are not forced to be fully aware of their being dishonest? In other words, do people break more if cheating can be considered non-deliberate? Second, does particularism level account for dishonesty patterns if lying is not for the sake of self-interests? For studying these two questions, I explore the mind game as a variant of the die-throwing game which allows for inferences of dishonesty both on an individual level and caters for group interactions. The second study is a cross-cultural study that aims to examine the level of particularism (defined as the difference between in- vs. out-group other-regarding preferences) in different cultures and how it relates to favoritism and bribery levels in the lab.
