The 2021 "JOIN" Entrepreneurship Competition by Fudan University School of Management launched in last August, attracting 173 projects conceived by elite teams from more than 150 Chinese universities and nearly 40 overseas institutions, involving entrepreneurial endeavors in fields like big data, artificial intelligence, high-end equipment, energy conservation and environment protection, biomedicine, new materials, new energy, consumption upgrade, education and training, creative culture, etc. Among them, projects related to science and technology account for more than 60%, and more than 51% of them already entered the operation stage.
The twelve finalists were all teams seeking innovation in science and technology. The "Innovative Test Platform of Drug Quality and Pharmacological Effect" project won the Grand Prize with a RMB 300,000 reward. Three teams won respectively the Science and Technology Pioneer Award, the Growth Potential Award, and the Social Benefit Award with a reward of RMB 100,000 each.
In addition, the "Entrepreneurship Star Awards" provided four full scholarship for Fudan Science and Technology Innovation Leadership Camp, and two 50% scholarship for the Fudan EMBA program.
First created in 2004, the "JOIN" Entrepreneurship Competition has also been offering an exchange platform for the Chinese entrepreneur community. The jury composed of investors, entrepreneurs and scholars brought in-depth inspirations to the teams.
Professor Lu Xiongwen, Dean of the School of Management of Fudan University, pointed out at the end of the final: "Nowadays, entrepreneurship can’t go very far without technological innovation, which will join force with management science in their thrust for the growth and development of the enterprise.”
