Jin Jiong, Fudan alumna and one of the jury members of the "Join Cup" Entrepreneurship Competition, shared her insights on venture capital financing in entrepreneurship in her speech at the Fudan MBA Join Forum.
She began with her observation and analysis of venture financing accumulated in her 20 years of experience in the field. She pointed out that when entrepreneurs start raising funds, the first thing to understand is the expectations of investors.
Since venture financing often brings along multiple resources including contacts, market experience and so on, Jin invites the entrepreneurs to do comprehensive research on, rather than just to assume, the additional values that the investor can provide.
Regarding the disadvantages of financing, Jin pointed out that giving up equity in exchange for investment can have a significant impact on the development of the company, especially for a team in the earlier phase of the entrepreneurship. Therefore, she advises entrepreneurs to carry out comprehensive calculations and considerations even before the very first round of fund raising.
