This September, Mr. Yang Feng, Founder and CEO of Tianyi Research Institute, and one of the “40 business elites under 40 in China” selected by Fortune magazine in 2020, delivered a lecture entitled "Strategic Choices and Technological Paths for China's Commercial Aerospace Enterprises” to the Fudan MBA students.
Mr. Yang pointed out that the mission of commercial aerospace industry is to drastically reduce costs so that more scientists, research institutions, and commercial companies can afford to use satellites. Comparing the development of commercial satellites to that of the computer technologies, he expressed his belief that a huge pay-per-traffic market in the satellite industry will gradually emerge in the future.
According to Mr. Yang, two conditions must be met for a company to achieve great success: to be able to overthrow the existing supply chain of the industry; and to be able to create a closed loop supply chain.
At the end, Professor Sun Jinyun from Fudan University School of Management summarised Mr. Yang’s strategy in the language of the management science: ”Tianyi Research Institute is aiming to achieve performance improvement by reducing the cost, and subvert the traditional path with a new technological path.“
