In an article recently published on the monthly Science Development, Professor Liu Mingyu and Professor Rui Mingjie from Fudan University School of Management highlighted the importance and urgency of building an automotive cluster in Shanghai.
They pointed out that in China, Shanghai is now the leader of the industry in terms of the scale and the capabilities of innovation and industrial integration. With opportunities brought about by innovations in technologies and business models, the government and automobile companies should deploy in the following 3 directions in order to build a world-class cluster of the automotive industry in Shanghai:
1. Encourage innovation and promote the development of the high-end products, so as to meet the market’s needs under the trend of consumption upgrades.
2. Give full play to the high-level development of related industries in Shanghai, accelerate the industrial integrations, and improve the application of technology and AI in the automobile industry.
3. Make full use of Shanghai's advantage in attracting innovative talents from China and abroad, so as to fuel the upgrading of the Shanghai automotive industry.
