Fudan MBA Team Won the Best Presentation Award in the 2020 SCG Bangkok Business Challenge

A Fudan MBA team of five has overcome the inconvenience caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and made it into the four finalists in the 2020 SCG Bangkok Business Challenge. The team named itself Oralead and won the Best Presentation Award in the final competition.

As Asia's longest-running global student startup competition and one of the most influential business school events in the world, the SCG Bangkok Business Challenge established by Sasin School of Management, Chulalongkorn University in 2002 seeks to encourage MBA students across the globe to become more entrepreneurial, and to provide an international business matching platform for start-ups, potential partners and investors. This year, 208 teams representing 83 schools and institutions from 26 countries/regions participated in the challenge, including Cornell University from the U.S., ESSEC Business School from France, IE Business School from Spain, Tsinghua University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, etc.

The Fudan MBA team represented by Wu Manhong, Chen Ting, Zhang Can, Kang Zhijun from the 2019 IMBA and a MBA alumnus Zhang Bin, pitched a pharmaceutical R&D outsourcing project, which intends to transform drug delivery methodologies from injections into oral formulations and upgrade the current products for Chinese bio-pharmaceutical companies. The team members boast experiences as senior technician, financial analyst, corporate strategy planner, venture capitalist and participant in numerous international competitions, and their tutor Professor Lu Xianghua is extinguished in both academic capability and experience. Aside from the academic support, Professor Lu also introduced several alumni with achievements in the field of medicine, investment and financing to the team.

Despite the complexities caused by the sanitary barriers under the impact of the pandemic, the team members managed to carry out their online and off-line meetings. Their intensive target market research, brilliant corporate strategy development and extraordinary financial model construction made the Fudan MBA team one of the four finalists in the 2020 SCG Bangkok Business Challenge. With their concise and expressive PPT, teamwork spirit and outstanding English abilities, the team also won the Best Presentation Award in their group.

The team members feel they have been fighting equipped with the comprehensive support and inexhaustible resources from the platform provided by Fudan University School of Management, which integrates an elite alumni network with its innovative curriculum and global vision.

Although there are regrets that this year’s challenge had to be undergone online and they could not compete with the fellow competitors on site, the team members have gained a more profound understanding of the uncertainties and turbulences of the business world.
