The Chinese government has issued a series of unprecedented policies recently to help the SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) to survive the epidemic and resume work and production. Professor Rui Mingjie from Fudan University School of Management pointed out that, we must also restore the consumer demand, for household consumption has long been the main force of China's economic growth. He advised the government to:
1. Stimulate the need for bulk consumer goods such as cars, appliances and for housing.
2. Restore the ecosystem of the consumer service industries. There must be package policies to encourage consumers to resume their service consumption.
3. Release allowances for 1-2 months to the temporarily unemployed, like employees from SMEs in the housekeeping business, tourism, beauty salons, vehicle rental services, etc., with reference to the local minimum monthly income, so as to meet their basic needs.
