In an interview with China Business Network, Sun Jinyun, the associate professor of Fudan University School of Management, Director of Fudan Youth Entrepreneur Education and Research Development Center, offers some advice for SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises) under the threat of the COVID-19 epidemic. He points out that we must avoid the blind optimism about the economy after the epidemic, emphasizing that each enterprise must analyze the situation in short, medium and long terms based on the industry it belongs to and decide whether there might be an opportunity in this crisis. He suggests 4 strategies for SMEs when order is restored in the workplace:
1. The KPI should be adjusted from sales to cash flow management;
2. The focus on expanding should be shifted to the improvement of internal efficiency, especially that of the innovation capability;
3. Abandon the original organizational boundaries;
4. Build dynamic competitive advantages for the enterprise.
