Fudan-MIT Lectures by Prof. Neal Hartman was successfully held in November

On 10th and 11th Nov, 2014, two impressive lectures on cross-culture communication delivered by Professor Neal Hartman, a Senior Lecturer in Managerial Communication at MIT Sloan School of Management, were given to Fudan IMBA freshmen.
Trans-cultural communication shows its significance due to globalization age; therefore, the lectures were designed to provide us with information regarding the multinational link up. Following his insights of how to prepare case study and how to participate in case classes, professor Hartman analyzed how the culture difference plays an important role in terms of international communications, especially the ones within a business context.
After the theoretical session, professor Hartman cited two typical cases—“negotiation lost in Taiwan” and “Leading across cultures at Michelin” to let students figure out the key differences and gave his comments on those two cases accordingly. Along with the case analysis, MIT professor also gave two interesting quizzes to make students aware of different cultural aspects.
After the lecture, many students raised questions to Prof. Neal Hartman and expressed their appreciation in this impressive lecture before which they didn’t have the chance to think over or get known how to deal with the barrier or embarrassing situations during intercultural communications. They are looking forward to the next lecture given by Prof. Neal Hartman in the future.
