As the consulting team for SpringLand, we visited its headquarter in Wuxi again on 24th, April. We handed in our report and made the analysis based on the content. Meanwhile, we introduced our metric and timeline to the leader of the company. Considering that we are not an exactly professional consulting team in this industry, the company was quite satisfied with our job. However, there were still flaws of our report, especially on the details and lack of evidence. Therefore, the company asked us to enhance the report by giving my supporting evidence and data. In the end, the company leaders also talked with us about our MBA lives in school and encouraged us to keep passionate and work hard for the prosperity of our society.

Mentor: Prof. Xu
Teammates: Windy, Kane, Kenji, Evan Chang
On the afternoon of April 29th, 2014, Fudan iLab “IBM Smart City” team, together with faculty mentor Professor Xu, held a teleconference with IBM to discuss the Mid-term report.
Through investigation and analysis of 16 providers contributed to the mid-term report in 142 pages. This is the over 3 months’ “Voyage of Smart City” of our team since the Spring Festival. During the “voyage”, we have encountered numerous and concrete problems frequently: How to search the information efficiently? How to filter the information from the data pool? How to integrate the information and organize logic stories? When we scoop up the information via Baidu, Google, Corporate Annual Reports and other tools, rocks always exist with it and impede our moving on the organizing logic stories. Apparently, it is a huge challenge and obstacle for our team who didn’t have adequate research experience previously. On this occasion, thanks to the suggestions and tips from IBM Coach and Professor Xu, and also our team’s frequent discussion and close cooperation internally, we explore and try different methods positively, and eventually discover the right direction and path for our project more fleetly in the vast information ocean.
Although we have reached the midpoint of this “voyage”, a voice still reverberates in our heart: Next Stop, More Scallops! We are all looking forward to the final exhibition of 35 providers! Cheer Up!

Bosch Team
On the afternoon of April 23rd, 2014, Fudan iLab “Bosch Comfort on Demand” team, together with faculty mentor Professor Zhang, visited Bosch’s complex in Suzhou to deliver their mid-term report and update Bosch on their progress so far.
During the phase one of the project which primarily focused on survey collection, a total of 343 surveys were collected either from on-line or on-site sources. The survey hoped to tackle issues such as the end-customers’ expectations, values and concerns. Prior to conducting the survey, various questions and problems had to be answered and solved first. The team had to understand and confirm Bosch’s requirements, figure out a way to conduct the survey effectively and efficiently, how to extract and cross tabulate useful and meaningful information from the survey results, and how to present it in a systematic and logical way. With the help from their team mentor professor Zhang, the team successfully implemented the survey with spectacular results. With further input from Bosch’s team-from various departments such as marketing, administration and engineering-during the meeting, the team is able to formulate and refine a detailed layout for phase two of the project.
All team members hold the belief that since they are all assigned to the same boat; they need to learn how to manage different dynamics and different expectations. Everyone in the team was open to ideas and suggestions and divided up responsibilities based on their individual strengths.
We are all looking forward to seeing the continuous success of the second phase of this project.
