Tony Fang's research and teaching interests include international cross cultural management, industrial marketing and purchasing/sourcing, international business negotiation, and China business studies.

His academic writings have appeared in the International Journal of Cross Cultural Management, International Studies of Management & Organization, Journal of World Business, Industrial Marketing Management, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Asian Business, Scandinavian Journal of Management, International Business Review, Asia Pacific Business Review, The Copenhagen Journal of Asian Studies, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing. Tony Fang serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Cross Cultural Management (IJCCM) and on the International Business Review (IBR), the official journal of the European International Business Academy (EIBA).
